Venetian hair!

Here's the pictures from Dragon's Lair Yule. I'm really happy with how my hair turned out and feel like it's fairly close to the portraits. I'll have to later look up and post a reference portrait as well.
I should have taken off the site token (on blue yarn) and my hand sewing sissors (on the silver chain) before having the picture taken. My cleavage looks cluttered. :P Ah, well I really just wanted pictures of the hair, anyway.

Date: 2006-12-18 08:02 pm (UTC)re: glasses... it will be interesting as I get more and more blind how I deal with "medieval old lady eyesight" at events...

Date: 2006-12-18 10:59 pm (UTC)In any case, we have Romans, Saxons, Vikings, carribean pirates and Scottish Highlanders all camping together. How authentic is that?

Date: 2006-12-18 11:05 pm (UTC)someday everyone else will realise the error of their ways and come to the 15th century burgundians. its just a matter of time, you know...
;)
maybe its my lack of glasses, but I can blur my eyes about people doing other cultures WELL more than I can blur my eyes about people doing anything in half measures.
and please know that I am fully aware that there is nothinga bout the sca that insists on the level of authenticity that i insist upon for myself. I am fortunate that in AnTir folks look at me and my no glasses geekiness and smile tolerantly :)

Date: 2006-12-18 11:18 pm (UTC)I'd like to loose the glasses at events but I'm so very nearsighted that I have a tendancy to run into things (and people). Not exactly the graceful swan I'd like to project. I think I need to try contacts again.

Date: 2006-12-18 11:23 pm (UTC)part of it is just giving up and letting your eyes go blurry. when you know what your limits are, you tend to move a bit slower and more carefully and you begin to recognise things/people as various colored blurry lumps, etc :)
me, I'm actually pretty farsighted, so it jsut looks like I'm pissed off when I'm trying to get a bead on someone... and of course, I cant read for crap without my glasses, so I tend to have them stashed if someone insists I read something modern at an event (like music, unfortuantley...)

Date: 2006-12-19 12:10 am (UTC)I think I may need to wait until after the ball though. while directing people, I should probably be sighted. On Saturday though, I'm game. Especially if I decide to go out for novice costuming guild, it might be better not to be able to see my audience.

Date: 2006-12-18 11:30 pm (UTC)I wear glasses too. I feel that they're a prescription and, like prescription medications, no one can deny you them. I'd rather not have to wear them, but then I don't fancy sitting in brasier smoke until 3AM (and balancing empty Tupperware containers on sleeper's heads) with contacts in either. It makes it too hard to focus the camera. :)

Date: 2006-12-18 11:55 pm (UTC)and since I'm not wearing my glasses, I hardly notice that you're wearing yours! ;)
I dont look at it as "niggling" over the details. I see it as a detailed and rich and deep portrayal that adds to my own enjoyment of the game. and since its all about me, there you go ;)
