I've been trying to eat healthier, and with that in mind this was tonight's dinner. Measured portion of pasta, tomato sauce, fresh veggies, turkey sausage, homemade pickled garlic, more fresh garlic and a little fresh grated parmesan reggiano. Salad was greens and herbs from TJ's, more of the garlic and mushrooms I canned this fall, fresh pomagranite seeds and balsamic vinegar. Fairly healthy and NOM!

Wow the price of saffron has gone through the roof! It's about doubled since the last time I got some at Trader Joe's. I need to put in a big order at saffron.com but that will have to be when the budget can take a $100 hit. As it was I wound up using all approx. $36 of saffron to make the next batch of "fine spice mix"

Here's the final mix- you can't really see the saffron, but you'll definately be able to taste it. :)

Do you prefer sweet or savory/salty pickeled garlic?

This was my first time pickling garlic, and the recipe I had used almost the same spices as you would for cucumber pickles. They're really pickle-y, but delicious!

I wouldn't mind doing it again and trying different flavors.

There's leftover salad, but the mancreature totally hoovered dinner and was still hungry.
I was totally satisfied to the point of being full (but not stuffed).

You can come over sometime and I'll make you dinner though, just let me know. I can also show you some easy-peasy recipes.

I've got some bulbs in the ground now. I'll let you know how they do in the spring! This will be my first attempt to grow it.

Awesome! Now that we're no longer renting and the new house has a nice big, sunny back yard I'm hoping to get some gardening in. I want to mostly focus on edibles. :)

I can't wait to see how the bulbs do for you.
