I had a marvelous time. I wound up getting there late, but that was alright the rest was much needed.

I got to try out a new (to me) pavillion for the first time. It was one made by the beautiful and talented ciarnait. It's a single pole hub and spoke style design, exactly the kind I've been lusting after for the better part of a decade. I had some help putting it up, but I'd say that all together it took maybe 1/2 hour to erect, and it took way more time to get everything else inside situated.

I camped with Ldy_lavender, the girls, Alen & Solig, and we were practically right next to hleleanorsdress, and blondtartan, with Eric of Clan smith and his delightful Lady Beth right across the way. It was so darn hot that I didn't head out much. I went over to the baronial pavilion to check in, did a little quick browsing, but other than that I stayed pretty close to home.

We had a marvelous dinner that was a group effort. Ldy_lavender provided a gigantic pot of psgettie & meatballs, I brought a test run of the beef and barley stew I'm making for Banner War, a Jakke of Dover, and the lavendar blue berry muffins which were all a big hit. Which reminds me: meruda_true can I pass the recipe on to a few friends? They were a huge hit and I've gotten requests. I'm happy to give credit and I just like to ask before passing things on.

I got to wander, see BB & WW, who were throwing a little shindig, and kept asking me to sing. :) I got sing, and socialize, and sing some more. It was great.

I hear the grindstone calling, perhaps more later.

I's like a yurt, myself. They're cool looking plus fit with my persona. Unfortunately transportation issues preclude my ever being able to have a period encampment. I can fit a dome tent, sleeping bag, foam pad, folding chair, my garb with changes of shirts, my boots, my cloak, my feast gear, etc. etc. into one duffel bag. This is handy when I'm bumming rides with people.

No sweat, I read what you were thinking. I like to keep it light too, but I've been going more towards the period for a while now. I still love my little umbrella pavilions. I have one of those and all my huge collection of crap and possibly even room for a friend and a small amount of their crap all in my little 4 door sedan. Now I have a jeep and I've got it completely filled. I'm really trying not to have to get a trailer.

There you go, I'd be the friend. I actually made it to last September Crown squeezed into a little, older Tercel that contained another person and her pavillion and period gear. She was kind enough to take a smaller cooler than usual and leave a few items home to make room for me and my bag, though.

It's funny the way regular car camping takes up the trunk and maybe the cooler in the back seat of a small car, and SCA camping requires a truck and trailer.

What kind of shape is it in? Is it doing okay? I still have some scrap fabric hanging around for it if there any needed repairs.

Unless the doors have been retrofitted, I made them so that you could unhook the the top part and let them sag to have privacy, but some cross ventilation too!
The only complaint I ever had with that style of pavilion is that it amazes me how much room the center pole takes up when you have to arrange around it.

It's got a few stains here and there from storage and genrnal use (and a little too much kitty attention), but all in all it's doing pretty good. I was thinking of taking it to the local laudrymat to see how much it would be to have it cleaned. I'm thinking I'll do that before it goes into storage for the winter.

I need to either fix or replace the pole bag, the bottom has rotted out. The poles were still amazingly easy to deal with even without it.

I couldn't figure out what the metal poles were for, until I got to site and it would have been nice to prop open both doors :)

I love that the spokes are perfect for hanging curtains or clothes, and they're low enough that I don't have to stand on anything to put them in.

I'm in love. To make it even better I think the dags are in the colors of Venice. I believe the Venetian flag is red an gold. I've thought of possibly removing the dags and either flipping over the red ones (the underside is still nice and bright red) or painting dags with my family motto.

I figured they were for raising the doors so you could both get a breeze and provide extra shade. I could be wrong though. I also found it amusing that at least one of them has what appears to be a bird blunt on the end.

If you'd like to come visit I'll be camped right by where gate will be for crown. Either way I'll try to come say hi at somepoint during the weekend. :)

Okay, I'm a naughty girl. I have been planning though. I talked with the lady who I shared a camp with, there's pleanty of room, and you can either have a pavilion of your own, or share with me either way.

Do you have any food allergies? E-mail me and I'll give you all the details. You will be well taken care of, perhaps even a wee bit spoiled.

Fabulous! there will be hot food all weekend (with the exception of lunch, which maybe a precooked meat pie if it's just too darn hot to cook). Saturday night is steak and lobster night so let me know if you'd like just a slab of moo or crustacean.

I know but I like spoiling people, and if I make it fun and easy for you, maybe you'll be hooked again. ;)

It's all part of my grand scheme.

Besides, you're one of the first people I ever met in the SCA, and I don't get to see you nearly often enough due to insane schedules so let me spoil you a bit. Want to come roving and singing with me? Cooking and singing are two of my favorite things about the SCA (there are others, however).

I would love to come roving. I love singing but don't remember enough so would have to fake it a bit...{:o)

My only hesitancy about your pavillion is the comment about too much kitty attention. I am really sensitive to the smell of cat pee. {:o( Sadly, this might mean I'd need to set up my own.

No problem my little umbrella pavilion is completely cat pee free. I just need to re-sew one of the loops on, but I was planning on that anyway. I think it goes up easier than a dome tent, and I just recently put a fresh coat of water sealent on the top.

If you'd feel more comfortabel in that, that could work too. I'm more than happy to bring mine and set it up for you though. Just let me know.
