That's quite a long subject, about quite a long weekend. It was good, just really busy.
Almost forgot to include Friday night. Had a great dinner of salmon, asparagus, brown rice, and waaaaay too much margarita. I was careful to stop 1/2 way through dinner as I'm really picky about drinking and driving being absolutely not compatible. Had a great time, and stayed out much too later.
Saturday morning came fairly early (for a Saturday that is). I woke up about 7ish so I'd be sure to be ready for Ethelburga when she came to pick me up to go blackberry picking at F's.
While I was there I got a call from my mother's ex boyfriend (long story, love my family I just wish they were sane). The call informs me that my parents are heading up together (!?!) to come for a visit, which was news to me. I just don't understand how my mother who was a firm believer in Emily Post didn't see the huge breach in etiquette of expecting me to be available for a visit with no notice. I called my brother's and confirmed with my sister in law that they were coming to their house in Auburn for a visit and wanted me to be there as well. Even worse breach of etiquette, she was hosting them, and she had only been told the day before that they were coming up! Eeeek. < Sigh > I love my mother, but I just don't understand her these days. I told her I had a class that I was attending that day, but after I would be in contact and drive down to visit. I did, and I always love visiting with my brother and his wife is such a sweet heart.
I stayed in the area that night, but not at their house, as there was no room left in the inn. I woke up early again, went to visit my friend Nikki, and borrowed her adorable 2 year old with the unwieldy name of Finnegan so my mom could get her baby fix and Nikki could get a nap.
After I returned the baby I headed back up to support Lara and her team for their last hockey match of this season. I had thought that it would be at or around 7:30 like last weeks game, but when I was finally able to get a hold of someone to confirm, it turned out that her game started at 9 PM. wingedelf and darkmuffin came with and I had a great time. I think wingedelf has just about convinced to grab his hockey gear and get out there and play. Thank you damashita for staying home with scootercomputer, as it would have been too late for him with the 9PM start. We definitely need to get together sometime soon. Either a girl night or just hanging out in general.
Then I came home and collapsed. Yay, bed with fresh sheets!
There will be more updates later about the absolutely fabulous tourney cooking class. I felt like the class bobo head, but I got to make pomegranate chicken from a period recipe, over a fire! Happy, happy food geek.

Date: 2006-08-14 09:22 pm (UTC)i am changing my "sanity night" from going to the Grind and coffee in the city to something more local and cheaper (in gas if nothing else)... perhaps you'd like to meet up for a $3 movie some week?

I'm *still* working on the bathroom painting. I do still have some blackberry pie left, though....taunt, taunt....
