What to do? If I had the time.....
Aug. 4th, 2006 03:43 pmHere's a bunch of interesting actives and groups in the general Seattle / North Seattle area.
Movies: The biggie in the area is Fremont Outdoor Movies, $5 suggested donation, a cool movie with a sense of community.
http://www.fremontoutdoormovies.com/ I've been to this one with Ethelburga, it's a lot of fun but get there early.
* Also, Edmonds Outdoor Movies Night , free. http://www.ci.edmonds.wa.us/calendar.stm
This one is kinda fun in that it's put on in a park, so you're watching while lying down on your blanket in the grass.
*Animal Events: Dane Outreach, Aug 5th, free, a gathering at Marymoor park of danes and their owners, of doggie games, pictures, and education. http://www.daneoutreach.org/index2.html This one is mostly for lavenderldy and her squeeze.
Adventurous: Seattle Poly Picnic, Aug 6th , for those interested in a polyandrous lifestyle. This can be quite an emotional mind trip, so here's the intro. Dudes always get involved in this thinking they get to hook up with a couple of models, when the reality is closer to being with a bunch of mediocre-looking middle-aged couples packing a little extra weight. Also, guys generally have to show up with a partner to prevent everything from turning into a sausage festival. http://www.polycamp.org/index.htm - They said " sausage fest". Amusing, yet true. Not for me, but I couldn't resist sharing the info. I should caveat that I have considered a poly lifestyle, and at this time it's not for me. If I could find the right small group heck yeah, but that's the hardest part.
Organization: Boomtown Cafe , this place is unique in providing meals to the homeless. If someone still can't afford a meal, then he can trade labor for a meal. Apparently too many people accepted this offer when Boomtown was operating, because the charity went under. Anyway, they're making another go at it, and are planning to open again this fall. They will fill an important niche in the community, so here's wishing them the support and luck they need this time around. http://www.boomtowncafe.org/ This sounds like a great program, I hope they can make it sutainable.

Date: 2006-08-04 11:25 pm (UTC)Polyandry being a form of polygamy whereby only the male partner has multiple spouses. =)
I think that Poly Picnic is open to more than just that one configuration.
OK, end pedantic mode.

Date: 2006-08-05 06:38 am (UTC)A-freakin'-men! There are few with whom i'd consider this anymore, and fewer who'd probably share an interest in proceeding as glacially as we'd need.
