Why I'm remodeling my bathroom

Here are some before pictures so I can have a reminder as I'm paying it off just how horrific it truly was. 

Looks a lot like cottage cheese with gold confetti mixed in. This is actually and quite unfortunately the original wall "texture" in my main bathroom. 
My brother and I both tried to scrape it off, but the gold flecks are very tenacious. 
The toilet alcove, note the peptobismal pink toilet and the mirrored tiles behind the toilet (very classy) that someone decided would look even better if they painted alternating tiles black. I won't be missing any of the design features in this shot-at all. 
Those aren't even real bricks on the wall,  apparently they thought the faux brick look would set off the cottage cheese with gold flecks in look to perfection. That's not even going into the horrible light fixture, tacky towel ring, decrepit medicine cabinet or peptobismal pink sink.

I didn't get a chance to take any pictures before I sacked out last night but they've got it down the bare floor and have already fixed the underflooring. I'll try to remember to take pictures before I head off for a project day.

oh my lord and lady. i am going to have nightmares. i thought my paisley countertop in my kitchen was awful. that cottage cheese+glitter look wins. seriously

Yeah, the only thing I can think of that might help this decor make sense is conflicting drug use. I can see it now, "No man, you should never mix those, you'll see talking giraffes, or think cottage cheese and gold flecks look good together."

wow! I think we might be in the running with you for the worst bathroom in the world. Unfortunately, we don't have plans to deal with it anytime soon. Yay for you and the new bathroom. *covet*

Yeah it's pretty "special" at least when you have a spectacularly awful room you can tell yourself it's got personality. It may be the personality of a chain-smoking alcoholic, but it's own unique personality nonetheless.

Your pictures reminded me of all the many things I have to be thankful for where I live now. Bad living quarters have colored my view of my life grey too many times.
