Back from the long weekend

The extended weekend was great, but as usual wasn't long enough.
Wednesday night I invaded the_doctors kitchen while they played a board game, which was based on Lovecraft, and sounded incredibly cool. I made munchies for the gamers (assorted little seafood puff-type finger foods) which also wound up being my dinner. :) I also made the basis for my cherry lace torte and got everything together for the other 4-5 desserts I was thinking about making.
I drove down to R's for the holiday and he managed to reign me in a bit on dessert production. I wound up only doing 3 pies and the cherry lace torte. :) I also brought some munchies which came in handy when the roast took a little longer to cook than anticipated, so I set out some goat cheese with cranberries & cinnamon, cranberry rolls, crackers, & some sliced saliami. I even got to ride to the rescue with my handy meat thermometer so they didn't have to guess or test by cutting open the roast. Dinner was great, some traditional dishes and some new twists. :)
After dinner I drove down to my brother's house in Longview to get in some family time, and stayed there overnight.
Friday I managed to avoid malls alltogether, and instead went "shopping" at AM's. It was awesome. Much with the estrogyn, and I got pretty much an entire new wardrobe of fabulous new clothes, all without braving the maul, or breaking the bank. I'm wearing an all new outfit today and feeling pretty.
Saturday I went to OLOTEAS, and got in some nice social time as well as a little spirit re-charge and pool time. :) Always fun. I wound up staying after to help clean up and went to Denny's after, man I haven't done what's essentially the cast after party for a long time- almost all the way back to the Rocky Horror days. :) I managed to meet a mother and daughter who used to play SCA in another kingdom, and of course we got talking about food.
Sunday was lounge like a slug day. I managed to get in lots of sleep, and sadly no sewing or house cleaning. It was nice to lounge around in bed all day, snuggled into the covers and playing with the lap top I finally got back from my brother.

Date: 2007-11-26 08:06 pm (UTC)Hey, any suggestions on cheap but decent hotels or places to stay next Friday? One of my friends is competing in the DL bardic championship and I want to be there early if not bright to cheer them on.

If you want a REAL hotel there's one just off the auto center exit,
a super 8

Date: 2007-11-26 08:57 pm (UTC)I was planning on bringing a cooler full of munchies to feed people through out the day as well as feeding a few off board diners at the feast. Any requests or anything I can help with? Will there be a cook-fest the night before?
Let me know if you need to check with the hubby first, otherwise, I'd love to have a pajama party with you. ;)
